I didn’t like the first Birchbox I got, so I didn’t blog about it. But this one is worth doing a post on. If you aren’t familiar with Birchbox, it is a monthly subscription that sends you a box of the latest beauty products to sample.
I have already tried the mask and I could tell a real difference the next morning. The moisturizer is a bit greasy, but its always good to have one with SPF 50 in it. The lip stain is pretty cool and it lasts for quite a bit. I haven’t tried the bronzer or the band-aids yet, but I am sure I will soon!
It $10 a month and you can sign up for one month or a couple months at a time. I have only gotten 2, and like I said, one was good and one was not-so-good, so I guess it’s just a risk you take!
Have you ever been to a rhinestone rodeo? Yea, neither had I. But that’s where I was on Friday night. Prior to that I had to get my cowboy boots dusted off and diamonds shining. Here’s a couple of shots of the girls all dolled up, either channeling Taylor Swift or Miranda Lambert.
A lot has happened in my life since I started my blog one year ago, and I am so glad I started this blog so I was able to document all the events. Here’s a recap…
June 2011
I posted this video. I still can’t watch the video without laughing. I have no idea why it only has 11,000 views. I would have thought it would have gone viral by now!
Probably my all-time favorite YouTube clip…
July 2011
Mallory and I took a much needed vacation down to Florida, and we met my mom, sister and mom’s friend Nikki down there. This picture is when we went parasailing….it was so fun!!
August 2011
I was living in Ireland and this picture I was in Galway, Ireland with my friend Sarah. This was at the Cliffs of Mohr. Beautiful!
September 2011
I traveled to Turkey for work, and while I was there I got to go on a cruise down the coast of the Black Sea. I loved it there. I can’t wait to go back!
October 2011
I said my good byes to Ireland in October. I really loved living there. I learned so much and wish it hadn’t come to an end so soon.
November 2011
I went Black Friday shopping with my cousin, Stephen and my sister. While I was in the moment, I regretted going, but once I got home and realized all the good deals I got, I was glad I went!
December 2011
A lot happened in December! I co-emceed the Kentucky Governor’s Inaugeration. It was so cool! Mixing politics with TV…perfect for me!
My Irish friend Sarah was in Kentucky and neither of us had been to Vegas, so we took a quick trip, and I got to see my friend Zoe while I was there too.
Probably the most exciting thing that happened in December was Henna’s birthday! I went with my sister to her boyfriend’s house to see the puppies that were just born a couple hours before, with no intention of picking a puppy out. But once I saw Miss Henna, I claimed her and made up my mind right then and there!
January 2012
Apparently all I did in January was watch YouTube videos, but that actually sounds about right. Now at 21 million views, this video caught my attention, and apparently it did for lots of others too. Do these types of videos really speak to people? If you weren’t a Christian and you saw this, would it change you mind about Christians?
What do you think?
February 2012
In February my bestie Liz and I went to DC to visit our dear friend Heather and her hubby Dustin, and we got to spend some time with Liz’s boo, Luke, while he is doing his 1 year assignment of following around Barack Obama….tough life, huh?
Luke did get us into the Whitehouse so we could see the President land on the Whitehouse lawn.
My favorite part was being in the press conference room, so I had to take pictures. But please don’t judge my appearance, this is at like 1:30 a.m.!
March 2012
Miss Henna Sue was able to come home with me. She is so tiny in this picture!
April 2012
Henna joined the social media world and got a Twitter account.
May 2012
My May was basically consumed with Christian Grey’s world. Which was fine by me!
June 2012
Henna Sue is growing up!
Here’s to another year of fun filled activities to share with you again this time next year!
I will be celebrating the 4th anniversary of my 21st birthday in a few short weeks. As the days approach, I start to think about the things I want to ask for.
The top 3 things I have decided on are an iPhone, yes, I realize I am so out of the technology loop; the no!no! hair, can you imagine not having to buy razors or having to pay for expensive waxings; and a trip to the beach.
Has anyone ever tried dry shampoo? I thought it would always make your hair still look dirty. I never have used it , but girls at work were talking about how they use it and you can’t tell they use it.
Sunday I saw Leigh Ann Tuohy in Louisville, the woman who inspired the movie The Blind Side. She was there speaking about her life now and why she did what she did. It was very interesting and I am glad I went, but she is just like how Sandra Bullock portrays her in the movie: packed full of attitude! So sometimes she would have a real emotional moment talking about impacting one person’s life and then BAM! she would make a sarcastic comment. I guess that’s what you get when it comes to a rich, Southern, football-lovin’ woman!
I ordered some of these earrings from a store on Etsy. Except with my initials and in navy and pink.
I have been planning a trip to DC for my bestie and I for next week. Any ideas?
And last but not least……I stayed up until 2:30 a.m. this morning finishing The Hunger Games. I have read nothing else like it. This is a MUST READ! It was one of my favorites. Can you tell I loved the book? Very much a different review from the last book I read. I can’t wait for the movie to come out (March 23), it stars a Kentucky native, Jennifer Lawrence.
Seriously, when I was in school, Christmas couldn’t come soon enough, and now I cannot believe it is here! Yikes!!
Okay, I realize I have been a bad blogger, I really hope Santa doesn’t take that into account tonight. But I have had a very busy last month, so I have a good excuse!!!
20 something fierce things since Thanksgiving…
I started using sulfate free shampoo. This stuff is soo much better for your hair! My mom and sister use it now too. Funny side note, I went to Kroger to pick up some sulfate free shampoo to give my mom for her birthday last week, and when I found it, they had “close out price” sticker on the shelf. What!?! Naturally I felt the need to buy all they had, since this is my new favorite thing. Thirty seconds after putting 12 bottles in my basket, I run into my good friend Mallory, and without saying hello she asks if I am a secret hoarder. No, I am not, I just really love sulfate free shampoo…
Last night my family watched the documentary “The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia”. Now if that doesn’t put you in the Christmas spirit, I don’t know what will. But honestly, that is real life?? Really??? My, oh, my.
I got my car detailed this week, and it looks like a brand new car!!
My sister’s boyfriend’s family had puppies on Thursday, and of course, they are the kind I have wanted for about 6 years, Labradoodles!! We stopped by to play with them, and I fell in love with this little girl. Since Thursday, I have been doing my research and trying to decide if I can take on raising a precious little puppy!
We had a Christmas party and I got to catch up with some good friends.
My Irish friend, Sarah, was in Kentucky so we went to VEGAS for the weekend!!!
While we were there we went to lunch with my friend, Zoe, who had recently moved to Vegas.
On our last night in Vegas, Sarah and I went to Serendipity. Super cool place, Sarah got the Frozen Hot Chocolate.I got the peanut butter pie, which was the size of my head, and after I got the bill realized it was ELEVEN DOLLARS!!!!
We celebrated my Dad’s 55th birthday with my sister’s boyfriend and Sarah.
My sister, my cousin Stephen and I went Black Thursday shopping, and it was cray-cray! We went to Walmart and got some good deals, but it was madness in there! I got a great deal on a treadmill and have been using it a lot!
I love Christmas decorations! Although, I didn’t have time to put out my tree!
Look how cool this video is, the video production geek in me wanted to know how she did this, but the fashion diva in me loves that she came up with so many ideas on how to wear a scarf. 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 Minutes
I got a very cool opportunity. I was asked to co-emcee the Kentucky Governor’s Inauguration Grand March. I had a great time, and it was an honor.
A few weeks ago, I met the novelist, Kristin Harmel. She was so sweet and a week later she sent me a signed copy of her book The Art of French Kissing. Can’t wait to start reading it.
I am loving that The Christmas Story will be on for 24 hours starting tonight.
I DON’T like that I ordered my sister’s Christmas presents from Forever 21 and it never came, when I checked online it says it was delivered by the post office. So I call the post office, and all they can tell me is “sorry”. So….what do I do now??
So glad I got to hang out with all my work friends at our work Christmas party.
I will be starting MBA classes in two months at Midway College! Very cool program, one night a week for a year and a half and you have your MBA!
And no post is good without a Pinterest find. My mom use to always make me a Barbie cake for my birthday, when I saw this picture, I had to laugh. How funny would it have been to make one final Barbie birthday cake on your 21st birthday, but with a twist!! Merry Christmas, y’all!
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all! Enjoy this time with your family and relax!
I am thankful for many things in my life, but three things stand out this year.
1. I am thankful for a healthy family. I didn’t get to eat Thanksgiving with my Mom last year, because she was undergoing radiation for cancer. At the beginning of this year, my family went through a scary several weeks as my Dad was very sick in the ICU and on a ventilator. There were times where we didn’t know if we would get to spend another Thanksgiving with him. Thankfully both are healthy and enjoying life!
2. I am thankful to have a job. Many people can’t say that. It is easy to get caught up in the stress and bad days at work, but at the end of the day, I am thankful to have somewhere to get up and go to five days a week.
3. I am thankful I get to help celebrate my sister’s 19th birthday. In her words, “I only have 365 days left as a teenager!” Yes, it is true, but don’t fret, the best days of your life are ahead of you! I also didn’t get to spend Thanksgiving with my sister last year. This year, her birthday falls on Thanksgiving and we get to celebrate by starting the Black Friday shopping a day early, and by putting up my Christmas tree!
I must say I am sorry to my sister that she learned how to be goofy like me. Oh wait, we learned that from our Dad!!!
Black Friday…..now has turned into Black Thursday….
It is hard to believe that the sales begin as early as 10PM on Thursday night. For the last several years I have gotten up to go shopping on Black Friday, and I will be doing it once again, only beginning a few hours earlier. This year my sister and I are laying out our plan of action, which store to go to first, what we need to get when we are at that store, etc.
What is your method to the madness of Black Friday? Do you go? Sleep in? Do you make a list or just go to see what’s out there?
Also, I am looking for a decent treadmill, at a decent price. Any suggestions?
TJ Maxx is my favorite store. It has been for a long time. It’s one of the only places you can get a stylish purse, a pair of jammin’ pumps, a classy dress (in petite), fun kitchen gadgets, a funky lamp and a zebra print ottoman all in one fast swoop and make it out the door in under $100. This would be a great store to bring to Ireland. I could be like the Kardashian sisters and go around to different cities opening up stores and charging $10 for water (true story).
So I was on the search for something similar to TJ Maxx in Ireland….until…I found out they have a TK Maxx. Yes, you read that right. Same store. Same concept. Same logo. Replace the J with a K. While I find this interesting that they would change one letter, why wouldn’t they keep the same name for branding purposes??
Never the less, its here. TJ TK Maxx found its way to Ireland long before I could become a millionaire by opening up a chain of them here.
Maybe this isn’t a good idea to share with you, but my other brilliant plan for Ireland so far is to open up an Orange Leaf and Redbox TOGETHER. Perhaps its a little bit too fattening and lazy for the Irish. The Irish aren’t much for sitting around eating icecream and watching movies, but for an American this is really one of the only life comforts I am missing over here. Except for Jimmy John’s sub, I could go for one of those.
